Christmas comes but once a year... With too little beer!!
Yes beer is scarce in these parts. (Especially when you have to be sober to witness, and work) But hopefully Bita (Taby) will buy me my beer she drank last night.
We watched the "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" last Wednesday.
Just a few thoughts on it, I don't have time for a full fledged review. (Yes I know you are happy)
I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. It was a good movie, but I wasn't 'magically transported' as some critics claim they were.
Some small irks about the movie... I told JP, (Who was sitting beside me) that in one of the opening scenes, the train, as it crosses a bridge, doesn't have ANY smoke. (And I am going to prove it to you all... Just got to wait for those screenies....)
The lion was ok. Could have been a WHOLE lot better though. Apparantly others agreed with me about the fake lion hair fibers. (Second to the last paragraph)
One thing that slightly bothered me is the fact that they didn't mention that Aslan is the son of the Emperor across the seas.
Another thing that REALLY bothers me, is that ALL the critics are complaining about the movie being too 'Christian'. In my opinion it wasn't Christian enough!! For crying out loud people who watched it even more than once didn't even get that it was a alegory on Christianism until they were told!!
But all in all I liked the movie.
Some people didn't. They thought it was cheesy. *scowl (It's ok Nellie, you know I still luv you)
I liked the battle sequence. I didn't, however, like the fact that the whole movie seemed to revolve around that final battle. I guess they need a LOTRish plot to sell these days.
In the book, it doesn't even describe the battle, the whole book focuses on the fact of them being in Narnia. So I guess that was another one of the director's 'adaptations'.
Some of them were good, some of them were bearable, others weren't to be changed.
I enjoyed General Oreius, he was one of the 'good' adaptations of the book. Loved the charge scene, that's my idea of a Centaur. (Speaking of centaurs, a prize for who can spot a female centaur in the movie. *grin* Now just to find a prize...)
In the end, it is a movie worth shelling out a couple of bucks to go watch in the cinema. I just hope the next movies get better and better.
